Six Nations is the biggest annual rugby tournament in Europe. The tournament is six weeks long in which nations compete for the title of best European rugby nation.
This rugby tournament is played every year. Each year, one country plays all the other countries once. The format is such that one team plays at home against another team one year and the following year the team that played at home the year before will travel to the other team's country to play them. This year the matches will be played at the Principality Stadium (Cardiff), Murrayfield Stadium (Edinburgh), Twickenham Stadium (London), Stade de France (Paris), Stadio Olimpico (Rome), Villa Park (Birmingham) and Brighton Community Stadium (Brighton).
The countries participating in the Six Nations are England, Ireland, Wales, Scotland, France and Italy. When the tournament was first organised, only England, Ireland, Wales and Scotland participated. These countries are called the so-called "Home Nations". France participated for the first time in 1910 and Italy in 2000.
